New Home Construction

Thank you so much for the wonderful job you did building our house.  You and your team are outstanding!

Thanks to your expertise and attention to detail we have had so many positive comments about both the quality of the construction and the diligence of your team. Your creative and technical input was valued throughout the process and your recommended vendors and subcontractors were a pleasure to deal with.  Thanks to your strong communication skills, even though we live 700 miles away you made the building of our dream vacation home a pleasure.  Our scheduled weekly phone calls and photos kept us up to date with the project and were so helpful. Your timely billing made the financial component clear and manageable.

Not to be overlooked, you got us into our house on time despite the COVID-19 pandemic!!!

Cape Cod, Full Home Renovation

Hiring Chris Dougherty as the contractor for our home renovation was one of the very best decisions we have ever made. Quite frankly, we heard so many horror stories about construction projects at the Cape, we entered the whole process with a great deal of trepidation.  However, our experience  with Chris, was quite the opposite: an absolute pleasure, from start to finish.  

We were first introduced to him by our architect, who also provided recommendations for other builders to consider as well. But when it came to describing Chris, he simply stated “. . .Chris is a superstar. . . you should hire him now, because in a few years, he’ll be in such high demand, you won’t be able to get him!” We did our due diligence, and made site visits for each of the builders. Right off the bat, we were impressed with Chris’s ingenuity, creativity, high quality work in comparison to all the others.  Also, the previous owners who worked with him, offered great praise for both the quality of his work, as well as the smooth, reliable working relationship overall.  

So the decision was made; we chose Chris as our contractor. And truthfully, we never looked back!  From the very onset, he was an extremely organized, detailed planner, who always kept us up to date. Chris was totally hands-on; always personally on site to supervise his crew, all of whom he hand picked. The entire crew had worked with him on previous projects, and all were masters at their craft. They were fantastic team, who worked extremely well together, never slacking, always meeting deadlines and always very respectful to Chris.  All along, he had clearly set timelines, connecting with us about every 2 weeks to review each and every detail. Occasionally, he would schedule a meeting with us onsite;  he was extremely respectful of our time, and these meetings would be run with great precision, with all necessary crew members present. He would clearly detail the decisions we had to make to proceed, offering guidance and options whenever needed.  The construction continued and finished right on schedule even though we added a few items such as a wine cellar, a more elaborate kitchen, raised the ceiling in the foyer and bedrooms as well as increased the depth of the walls. Beach House Renovation

We purchased our beach house in East Sandwich in 1993, and it was always our hope to one day renovate and add on to the original 1960 structure to suit our retirement plans of a comfortable year round home with all of the amenities.  To our good fortune, we met Sandwich local architect Anne Michniewicz and general contractor/builder Christopher Dougherty.  Together we planned, re-shaped and revised plans for our project to finally arrive at a design that we believed suited our needs, and importantly, was within our budget.  Throughout the planning process, Chris Dougherty proved patient and practical.  He envisioned with us our ultimate goal of what we wanted, but also what we would need.  (For example: an upgraded furnace to replace the original forced hot air system that was inefficient and sounded like the Cape Cod railway had been re-routed through our basement.)

The project began on time and the work moved right along, finishing when promised.  The job site was maintained in a very neat and orderly manner, inside and out.  The crews that Chris employed were all excellent and each contributed with practical and functional advice, from light placement to moving the furnace to the attic space to provide for very comfortable distribution of heat as well as to accommodate our wish for central air conditioning.  Our neighbors and friends speak for us when they visit and exclaim over the beautiful detail and excellent craftsmanship of the work of Chris and his crew.

The new addition houses a beautiful custom kitchen designed and installed by Chris’s brother Dwight (Seaside Kitchens) and provides for a beautiful flow through the renovated dining area to living area, through newly installed French doors out to the new maintenance free deck, all to showcase our seasonal view of Cape Cod Bay.  The addition also provides us with a new back entry complete with small farmer’s porch, interior mudroom and first floor laundry.  We could not be happier with the final result.

Words do not adequately describe the difference between the previous and present look of our home.  We are happy to be used as a reference for Chris Dougherty’s fine workmanship and professionalism.  We were very fortunate to have him do our renovation and addition.
